After watching movies like Soorarai Pottru and Rocketry, I came out depressed instead of feeling inspired as the movies intended to be probably.

Don’t get me wrong, the lead titular characters are inspirational for sure, I’m neither debating that, nor is that the point of discussion here. The real point that is driving me crazy is how can we collectively be so indifferent or helpless when a genius amongst us is trying his/her best to do something amazing?

Imagine how awesome it would have been had we come together and encouraged geniuses like Nambi Sir and Capt. Gopinath.

As a collective noun, Public, what are we?
Instead of becoming a hurdle at every step of their journey, be it as an ignorant media OR mute spectators or ignorant consumers, waiting for someone else to do the miracle for us!
Had we all come together and become the stepping stones of their success, what all could we have achieved for humanity?

Well, we cannot change history for sure. Can we at least attempt to write new history?
Let’s understand this in our context and see if we can help another genius of our society / company / city /country.

How do we end up letting some individuals pull them down? Watch out for such behaviour or patterns around you in the current scenario. In your existing organisation, is someone (individual or team) being different? Unique? Unconventional? How are you all treating that individual or team?

Each genius seems unconventional because he/she is challenging the status quo. And status quo is maintained – sometimes out of fear or out of compliance. And when someone challenges these blatantly, it sort of hurts the ego of some.
Typical response of such individuals is, How can someone else dare to do something that I could not? Then we must stop them as well from doing it. Else, we’d look stupid.
This very thought is essentially the root of such behaviour and then we end up stifling the idea or creating one more hurdle in their path. Any rules are made for a reason. Let’s put an effort to understand the reason. Is it contextually still valid or it way past its expiry date?

Is it time to re-write OR maybe remove the rules? Is it time to see things in a new perspective?

Can we use this as an opportunity to review these rules and overall situation?
Can we team up with the idea and ride the wave and make it a collective success? Thereby celebrating humanity as a whole.

Now, beyond the genius, yet again, in our day-to-day struggles as Public, a few questions to ask ourselves.
Do we have a conscience? Do we have to wait for disaster after disaster before we wake up and make some noise? Also, why does everything in our country have to be heard ONLY after violent protests and uncomfortable noises?
As a tax payer, it aches to see when our public property is destroyed in the name of protests.

A few questions:
Why do we not have a redressal forum that is active and transparent?
Why are these not online yet?
Why are the scorecards of political leaders not online yet?
Why are Promises v/s deliveries not online yet?

can sensationalize even the worst natural disasters
The media reporting and consumption is fractured
and Truth today, is manipulated & manufactured

Whether we acknowledge it or not
We are held at ransom
by the Media, by Politicans, by Terrorists, by Industries
By Hospitals, by Corporates and then some

Revolutionaries helped us break off traditional ways of slavery
but disturbing as it is, we are still sold everyday
in megabits and terabytes, into an unknown drudgery
in imaginable and unimaginable ways, while at work or at play

It’s a heady cocktail When power and politics is mixed
Every game and every event is pre-dtermined and fixed
Every front has a sinister ulterior motive, be it the Ukraine invasion
Agenda in Local elections or the steps taken to amp up Covid Vaccination

Just as darkness engulfs the last corner in the West
A new dawn from the East is ready to lay the darkness to rest
While the politicians are busy upping their game
A surprise move from an unexpected corner, will make them look lame

Meanwhile, Hope is the rope we must continue to tightly hang on to
Our Strong and positive inner virtues will help us sail through
for now, every situation presents itself in extremes
But remember, nothing, is quite as it seems

Times change, Life adapts, Nature adjusts
Mis-aligned Human evolution needs re-evaluation

Resources Having pushed from abundance to near extinction
We’re guilty of mindless multiplication

Our generation has tasted the luxury of “And/or”
but for the future generation, it’s only an “Or”

That may be true to natural resources
but what about our mental resources?

Resources like Discipline, Courage, Patience
Clarity, Focus and consistence

Thankfully, these’re still in abundance
We just need to think and rightfully influence

And with these, there’s NO need to restrict to the “Or
we can actually pick all on the table AND add more

Need of the hour is NOT Hocus-pocus
but the top-three Clarity, Consistency AND Focus

It’s not JUST our responsibility anymore
We must give the platform for the next generation to soar

These are times to be self-aware and cognizant
and never stop being consciously Self-Confident

Smile at yourself, your friends and your family
Do it Quite often and not on occasions, far and few
Spread the joy as much as you can
And spend as much time with old friends and new

Life is but a journey, best travelled together
And helping each other not go askew
At every step meanwhile, show gratitude,
whether you say Thank you or Merci beacoup

Believe in yourself because no one else is obliged to
Finding our anchor is a very intimate and personal issue
But it’s all within, so take a walk inside without a shoe
And you will have your elusive breakthrough

May you find the power to manifest your dreams &
May awesome things happen to you and through you
That are fulfilling, not just to you, but others too

Mere acknowledgement could be the key

Barely managing to cope

Our ways have been defective
Globally ineffective
High time we turn reflective
