Seven Years of Awesomeness with my Wife
~ Srikant R Rao
It took all of seven minutes to make up my mind
Immersed in your eyes; lost myself to an immortal bind
Twas unbelievable, to me, life was so kind.
(Saptapadi)
For us to align with ourselves and the universe in harmony
Seven are the seas of the world
1styear of our marriage, turbulences unfurled
(Saptagiri)
Although an uphill task, our arguments grew frivolous and excuses lame
Seven are the colurs so bright
We received a courier, at the end of the tunnel, there was light
Seven are the musical notes
She played with such fervour, reinforced, hope floats
Seven are the stars in the constellation
Our lives aligned, moving in fluidic motion
Seven are the sacred lives as mentioned in the legend
To savour every moment with you alone, all rules, I shall break and bend
My vows, my faith and my love, on you, to embellish
It is still unbelievable, to me, life is so kind.

Sriks on Chennai L!ve 104.8FM (Chennai)
This was the first time I was on Air (104.8FM) Chennai L!ve.
I was invited to be a part of the discussion panel on a program called “You’re Hired”.
Moderated by renowned NDTV (ex) journalist Sanjay Pinto.
The RJ for the hour was Chennai’s very own bubbly Sanobar Sultana (better known as Sano).
I was joined by the following fellow participants:
1) Kiran Guntunr (Asst. GM, AGS Healthcare)
2) Ramesh (Sr. Manager, Maveric Consultants)
3) Joshua Madan (Director, Covenant Media)

Happy 64th Republic Day
~ Sriks (Who else?)
Selfish New Year
2012 as any other year was eventful. We lost so many artists – and there were jokes about turning the focus towards the politicians.
Meanwhile, Parliament as usual – hardly worked and one of the sporting GODS retired – it was meant to happen someday – but our GOD took his clue from the Mayan calendar and guess what? Our “Sherlock Holmes” generation caught it.
There were scams galore, media was kept busy. There were “exposes” and fake surprised reactions to such “exposes”. A new political party was unveiled, as if we didn’t have enough. Everyone’s learning from the “Remix” generation, I guess.
But we are all left with the “Halo” effect. The one thing that everyone seems to be venting about OR showing concern about is the “Respect for Women” in the guise of the Delhi Rape case. Seriously, did we really need a trigger to think about that? In India??? And why is everyone ashamed about INDIA suddenly after this ONE case that got reported? What about the innumerable cases that went unnoticed all this while? But the real question is – why being ashamed of INDIA? Who is INDIA? Is it not YOU and ME? Are we ashamed of ourselves? Well, we must be. There are enough things I can write about… but I want to talk about three things that I will FOCUS on this New Year.
Respect &
Freedom
In most cases, I’ve seen people DEMAND respect instead of earning it. The funny part is some people assume that, because they “command” some respect, others are “obliged” to act in a certain manner when they are around.
FREEDOM: There are two dictionary meanings that I want to highlight here.
1) Absence of subjection to foreign domination or despotic government.
2) The power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint.
I’m talking about basic things like choosing a curriculum, school, to going out to have a good time. We are NEVER free to do anything WE want to do without being plagued by these thoughts.
And if at all we do and are caught (which, in this densely populated country is highly possible), we are forced to feel guilty about it for the rest of our lives.
We are always worried about someone else being judgemental about us for every act we do… including breathing (read snoring / bad breath etc.).
And again, we are bound by obligations of the so called “respected” individuals in our lives.
A Poem
Why am I silent on the “Lokpal” bill issue?
The introspection beyond this point brings out one simple fact.
Let’s assume the “Jan Lokpal” bill is passed just the way it is being requested, what next?
We will have another “Lokayukta” office created with just as many suspicious authorities. Does anyone remember Anti Corruption Bureau? Whatever happened to that? What do you do to keep these departments in check? Will we be able to trust them? Why are we fighting for another bill or law when we have enough that are not just being implemented / followed? This is like adding another layer to the existing mess.
We as individuals should ensure WE do not bribe anyone rather than expecting the others to NOT accept. That’s pretty much like expecting zero gravity.
